Walled Gardens of Cannington hold Family Day

The Walled Gardens of Cannington, as part of the Somerset Art Weeks (SAW), are holding a Family Day on Saturday 5 October between 2-4pm, so the public can meet the artists who created the Abundance Garden Trail.

The Walled Gardens are among a number of local gardens participating in the trail, and artists Alison Cockcroft and Kitty Hiller, the Walled Gardens’ contributors, will be available to meet the public and talk about the ideas behind the work they created.

Alison has created two works of art, including ‘Peel’ and ‘The Carriers’. As part of the Family Day, Alison will invite visitors to make their own Carriers using paper and drinking straws. Kitty has made three pieces, created with wood, textile, paper and stone, aimed at encouraging people to interact with them.

Visitors of all ages are invited to bring a picnic to enjoy an afternoon of art and explore and wander in the beautiful gardens.

Normal admission rates apply. Adults: £3.50, children (under 18) and students: free, concessions (senior citizens, wheelchair users): £2.50. Book in advance at Somerset Art Works, 01458 253800 or email info@somersetartworks.org.uk
